Tantrum

I was kind of bummed out yesterday for no particular reason.  I spent a lot of time working on the computer but with no phone.  Maybe being out of communication depresses me.

I got the electrical wiring fixed but almost killed myself in the process.  I had knocked out the rest of the little bench/wall thing and stupidly left it in the middle of the room where I had to step over it to work on the wire.  I lost my balance and fell, catching my foot in an empty beer case, and landing with my knees and hands on the wood from the wall, which still had nails sticking out.  Luckily I wasn’t very badly hurt, but I was shaken up and upset to the point that I felt I had to throw something.  The first thing I came across was a plastic chair.  I thought it could survive the one-story fall over the railing, but it caught on the post on the way down and a leg broke off.  I was even more angry with myself then.

Alaine came home and said that we were going to dinner at Baba’s house.  Baba is a seasonal resident who lives about 2 km down the road.  We took a few minutes to relax and have drink first and then biked down there.  It was another beautiful night: clear and cool with lots of stars.  The moon wasn’t up yet at that time.

Baba made us some nice mango drinks and we brought snacks that we all ate while she prepared dinner.  She grilled delicious fish and shrimp and served it with cauliflower and rice.  Terry, another gringo who we had met at the New Year’s party, was also there.

We were all tired by 9 o’clock so we made an early night of it.

I slept late this morning, catching up on some much needed sleep.  I have been waking up at 5 or 6 o’clock every day for the last several days.  Alaine has a meeting tonight at 7 in Puerto Viejo, so I went in about 10:30 this morning and she came later.  I had to come back at 3 because the phone guy was supposed to be here, but he never showed up.

At work I tried to fix the stupid printer, but I gave up and hooked up the other one.  Do not buy and Epson 780!  That thing drives me nuts.  I would get rid of it but we have about $200 worth of ink for it that won’t work in this new one.
